Catbird Security Controls

Catbird vSecurity incorporates the broadest set of controls required to meet the seven areas of interest to the auditors. Together, these capabilities are at the core of Catbird's automated security compliance monitoring and enforcement.

  • Auditing: Virtual network visibility, monitoring and flow analysis based on hypervisor APIs and network security tools,
  • Inventory Management: Virtual machine tracking, analysis and quarantine based on hypervisor APIs, network discovery tools such as nmap, Xprobe2, NAC and IDS.
  • Access Controls based on Catbird native capabilities or VMware® vShield App™
  • Configuration Management via policy-based monitoring and enforcement of network configuration and activity
  • Change Management controls via network access control (NAC) with automatic virtual machine quarantine
  • Vulnerability Management based on a CVE-compliant vulnerability management system
  • Incident Response via Snort® based IDS/IPS with zero-day threat intelligence and Sourcefire® VRT rules

Security controls are the safeguards that a business uses to reduce risk and protect assets. In Catbird vSecurity, policy determines what security controls are needed, and those controls are selected by either a compliance standard or by corporate governance guidelines identifying the risks. Which security controls are in place validates the best practices, policies or laws of the enterprise. Testing security controls in the aggregate for effectiveness and measuring them against standards are some of the best ways to help an organization meet its security and compliance requirements. With Catbird’s breadth, IT teams can be assured of the compliance of their own virtualized data centers with whatever policies their management as put in place.
